Chapter 255 Exposure
Chapter 255 Exposure
Following the faint trail left by Superses during his desperate escape, almost assimilated by the abyss's aura, Lin Tian and Celia traversed a desolate and lifeless area at the deepest part of the Withering Canyon.
The land here has a sickly purplish-black color, as if it has been repeatedly stained by highly toxic blood. The sulfur and rotten smell permeating the air are almost tangible. Ordinary creatures that stay here for even a moment longer may have their minds eroded.
As the last twisted stone forest, stretching towards the sky like withered skeletal arms, was left behind, the view suddenly opened up, and a powerful, oppressive force that made one's soul feel suffocated rushed towards them like a tidal wave.
They stopped and gazed ahead.
At the edge of that plain shrouded in an eternal dark red sky, the ultimate destination of this journey—the City of Dark Eclipse—finally revealed its magnificent yet ferocious full form.
It was no castle in the ordinary sense; it was more like a living behemoth, born of pure malice and dark power, crawling on the earth.
The city wall is not made of bricks and stones, but is constructed from twisted and writhing black metal, living rocks that seem to be groaning in pain, and a large amount of solidified negative energy material that exudes despair and resentment. Its surface is covered with thick, winding vascular-like veins and strange holes that open and close constantly.
Countless towering spires, like jagged fangs, pierce the low-hanging sky, their tips shrouded in an ever-present vortex of shadow.
What is most striking is the vengeful spirit that surrounds the entire castle, endlessly circling, flying, and howling like millions of black crows!
They converge into a deathly cloud that obscures vision, emitting a soul-piercing scream powerful enough to drive the weak-willed instantly mad. They form a natural and powerful barrier of perception and mental defense, and any unauthorized prying may be met with indiscriminate soul attacks from these vengeful spirits.
However, even more suffocating than this wall of vengeful spirits was the enormous dark red energy shield that enveloped the entire castle—the [Wall of a Thousand Souls].
It resembles an inverted, semi-transparent giant bowl, tightly protecting the Dark Erosion City within.
On the surface of the shield, countless pained and distorted faces appeared and disappeared, as if countless souls were imprisoned within, suffering eternal torment. The resentment and despair they exuded were one of the sources of the shield's power.
The immense pressure of energy, like a tangible mountain, weighed heavily on Lin Tian and Celia's hearts, as if silently proclaiming the absolute sovereignty and inviolability of this place.
"Finally... we've arrived." Celia looked at the familiar castle, the very place that was the source of her nightmares, her voice trembling slightly, but more so filled with a cold hatred and resolute determination.
Lin Tian's gaze was calm, like two bottomless pools of cold water, reflecting the hideous demon city in the distance.
He was not intimidated by the frightening momentum; the more critical the moment, the calmer he became.
"Find a place to observe," he said succinctly.
The two quickly retreated and hid behind a huge, jagged black boulder about a few miles away from Dark Erosion City.
This location offers a relatively wide field of vision, allowing a clear view of the entire [Wall of a Thousand Souls], while also providing sufficient concealment.
After lying in wait, Lin Tian immediately focused all his attention on sensing the dark red protective shield in the distance.
In his eyes, there was a faint glimmer of starlight and the will of a sovereign.
In his perception, the massive [Wall of a Thousand Souls] was like a living behemoth breathing, with its energy flow exhibiting distinct undulating cycles.
He was silently calculating, searching for the energy trough mentioned in Supersis's intelligence.
However, just as Lin Tian was concentrating on analyzing the energy channels of the [Thousand Soul Wall], a sudden change occurred!
"Buzz—!"
The massive city gate of Dark Erosion City, constructed of living rock, emitted a muffled rumble and slowly opened a crack inward.
Immediately afterwards, like a flood bursting its banks, countless low-level abyssal monsters of all shapes and sizes surged out from it!
[Lesser Demon], [Skeleton Warrior], [Berserker], [Corrosive Worm]...
They roared and howled, their sheer number instantly spreading out an endless black tide before the city gates, their twisted forms and scarlet eyes creating a terrifying spectacle that sent chills down one's spine.
But that's not all!
Just as the wave of monsters surged forth, four figures emanating powerful energy fluctuations that were distinct from ordinary monsters appeared silently on the city wall like ghosts. Their cold gazes pierced through the vast distance, locking onto the huge black rock where Lin Tian and Celia were hiding with unparalleled precision!
Lin Tian's pupils contracted slightly.
exposed!
Lin Tian realized this almost the instant the other person's gaze fell upon him.
The other party's perception far exceeded expectations, or perhaps the castle itself was a giant living detector.
Without any hesitation, the four figures, like four falling meteors, leaped down from the tall city wall with powerful momentum. In a few leaps, they crossed the surging tide of demons and rapidly approached Lin Tian and Celia's location in an encircling manner.
They moved incredibly fast, arriving in the blink of an eye. They stopped a hundred meters away from the boulder, spreading out in a semi-circle to block all possible escape routes.
These four individuals, though different in appearance, all exuded a chilling aura of lord-level power, clearly indicating that they were all strong individuals under Kael'thas, on par with Superses and Morgus!
The one on the left is a tall, thin male demon wearing a magnificent shadow robe. He holds a staff inlaid with a pale white skull, and his body is surrounded by whispering ripples that cause mental confusion. His name is Sasorvar, and he is skilled in mind manipulation and shadow magic.
Next to him was a voluptuous female succubus wearing revealing leather armor and wielding dual blades. She licked her red lips and greedily scanned Lin Tian, as if admiring delicious prey. She was Shaheras, known for her agility and deadly sneak attacks.
On the right is a ferocious troll nearly three meters tall, covered in thick bone armor, wielding a decapitation blade as large as a door panel. His name is Gruul, a pure physical destroyer, exuding a savage power akin to Morgus.
The last one floated in mid-air, its form ethereal, as if it were formed from countless vengeful spirits. Only its eyes, burning with ghostly flames, were clearly visible. It was Mal'Ganis, a curse master in spirit form.
Shahras let out a silvery yet malicious laugh, her gaze passing over Lin Tian as if recalling something, before speaking in a sweet, mocking voice:
"Look who this is! Isn't this our esteemed Princess Celia? What, you've had enough of wandering outside, and now you've brought your little lover back to die?"
