Chapter 47: Cataclysm Potion Complete
Hearing Fourth Master Qin’s words, Qiu Tu knew he had been persuaded and was ready to test him.
With this in mind, Qiu Tu began executing the final step of his plan, “Yes, I can save you.”
He spoke slowly, “Fourth Master, your original plan was to use the Political Division’s internal surveillance powers to bring down Qin Zhengguang. But you overlooked a crucial point: Qin Zhengguang is also part of the Investigation Department.”
“At this sensitive time, do you think Director Yan would allow an Investigation Department head to be taken down? It would give the Municipal Council and the military grounds to attack him.”
“So, even if I hadn’t sold you out and played your pawn against Qin Zhengguang, it wouldn’t have succeeded. Director Yan would have suppressed everything.”
“I’m sure your brothers have explained this to you tonight.”
“So, I didn’t betray you willingly; I had no choice.”
Fourth Master Qin fell silent.
Indeed, as Qiu Tu had said, when he refused to take the fall for the Qin family and angrily demanded why Qin Zhengguang couldn’t be the scapegoat, Qin Heng had given him a lesson on political reality.
He learned that Yan Chen and Qin Zhengguang were on the same team and that Yan Chen would not allow Qin Zhengguang to fall at this critical juncture.
The Investigation Department couldn’t afford to make mistakes!
Feeling Fourth Master Qin’s silence, Qiu Tu smiled and softly said, “So, Fourth Master, do you want to switch sides?”
Fourth Master Qin was taken aback.
His incredulous voice came through the communicator, “Aren’t you Director Yan’s confidant? You?”
Qiu Tu laughed, lying through his teeth, “I am indeed Director Yan’s confidant. But I’m not Qin Zhengguang’s confidant.”
“You don’t know, after I dealt with the Qin family, Qin Zhengguang was very grateful to me. He even gave me a car and many gifts.”
“To be honest, I’m scared.”
Qiu Tu sighed, “Fourth Master, if he had cursed me or threatened me, I wouldn’t worry because that would show he’s just a foolish brute.”
“But his flattery and gifts make me worry he’s plotting to take me down in the future.”
“Furthermore, the Qin family is about to be taken under Director Yan’s wing. You tell me, in Director Yan’s eyes, who’s more important, me or the entire Qin family?”
“So, I don’t want the Qin family to align with Director Yan. Or if they do, I need someone I can control within the family.”
“For example, you.”
Qiu Tu’s disdainful and threatening tone didn’t anger Fourth Master Qin. Instead, it calmed him.
Qiu Tu continued, “Fourth Master, I have dirt on you, evidence of your betrayal of the Qin family. If you take control of the family, you wouldn’t dare harm me.”
“Even if you can’t swallow this insult and decide to act against me, we can go down together.”
“We have a foundation for cooperation.”
After listening to Qiu Tu’s proposal, Fourth Master Qin’s expression changed multiple times. After a while, he asked, “Which side are you talking about?”
Qiu Tu remembered the most common phrase in Fourth Master Qin’s investigation: “Winners take all, losers stand small.”
Under similar conditions, Qin Zhengguang might forgo the plan due to familial bonds or risks. But Fourth Master Qin, as long as there was a glimmer of hope, wouldn’t sit idle.
Having given him such a promising prospect, Qiu Tu now just needed to wait for him to take the bait.
Satisfied, Qiu Tu redirected his focus from Fourth Master Qin and headed to the bedroom to check on the progress of the Cataclysm Potion.
Opening the bedroom door, he was immediately greeted by a salty, ocean-like scent. He felt as though he was standing in the middle of a vast ocean.
The room had turned blue, the ceiling reflecting the shimmering sea. The sounds of wind and waves filled the air.
Reaching out, he felt seawater washing over his body, soaking his clothes.
“Hey! Qiu Tu! Qiu Tu!” Shen Lingshuang’s voice suddenly broke through the illusion.
Just as Qiu Tu was immersed in the strange realm of the "Indoor Ocean," he suddenly heard Shen Lingshuang's call in his ear.
Startled, Qiu Tu realized he was still in the bedroom. The sea and waves had vanished, leaving only the potion brewing equipment and materials.
‘Was it all an illusion?’ Qiu Tu was shocked, but he noticed his clothes were indeed wet, dripping water.
Bending down, he tasted the water. It was salty.
Looking at Shen Lingshuang’s worried face, Qiu Tu asked, “What happened to me?”
Shen Lingshuang hesitated before replying, “I’m not entirely sure.”
“I’ve encountered similar phenomena before, but my father told me it relates to the true nature of the Cataclysm and the essence of the world.”
“Unless you’re on the path of Cataclysm, you don’t need to know. So, I don’t know the details. But it’s not an isolated case.”
Qiu Tu’s eyes turned to the blue potion boiling in the equipment.
Was the illusion caused by this Cataclysm Potion?
A single potion could create such a realistic illusion, even turning it into reality?
What wonders lay ahead on the path of Cataclysm?
Pondering this, Qiu Tu asked Shen Lingshuang, “How long until the potion is ready?”
She thought for a moment, “Ten minutes.”
Qiu Tu nodded, “I’ll change clothes first.”
He grabbed a towel from the bathroom to dry off and found some clean clothes in the living room to change into.
Ten minutes passed quickly.
When Qiu Tu finished changing, Shen Lingshuang emerged from the bedroom, holding two bottles of the bright blue potion.
