Chapter 5 Spiritual Awareness
Chapter 5 Spiritual Awareness
The quality of a card determines its maximum spiritual level; for example, a white card can be upgraded to a maximum of nine silver stars.
Within the same level, the higher the quality, the stronger the combat power.
Version is a rather special concept, reflecting the copyright ownership and the strength of the authority over the cards.
Card makers must have their cards approved by the Heavenly Dao before they can create them.
Only when approved by the unseen laws of Heaven will a Card Spirit be granted the corresponding authority and finally condense into a physical form.
Based on the strength of the authority contained in the cards, they can be divided into three versions: Source Card (bright border), Classic Card (dark border), and Extent Card (light border).
The so-called Source Card is the original card, which fully carries the divinity and spirituality of the card itself and represents uniqueness.
Classic cards are authentic cards replicated according to the original card formula. They are slightly less spiritually potent, but still retain some of the original charm.
Rubbing is a secondary reproduction of a rubbing, just like a rubbing of a stele or inscription. It only has the outer shell, but loses all the inner spirit.
Both the grade and quality have declined significantly compared to the former two.
Of the three versions of cards, the Source Card has the best amplification effect, followed by the Classic Card.
Tuoka can only slightly enhance physical strength, and the increase is far less than the previous two.
Unless there is absolutely no other choice, card makers generally will not choose to make rubbings.
"As expected of a perfect source card!"
Lin Mo sighed.
In just a few minutes, his mental energy was completely replenished.
Furthermore, his physical strength, power, and reaction speed have all been genuinely improved.
It's no exaggeration to say that he could easily crush his former self with just one hand now.
No wonder the high-level card makers in this world are all incredibly powerful, like humanoid Tyrannosaurus Rex.
This is only the first card, yet it already provides such a terrifying boost.
As the number of cards increases and the level rises, to what extent will the strength climb?
But on second thought, this is actually quite normal.
If card crafting cannot strengthen one's physique, even with the most powerful cards, there is always a risk of death.
Let alone the vicious and bizarre "abnormal variants," even a bullet or a poisoned spear in the hands of an ordinary person can easily take a life.
Amidst his chaotic thoughts, Lin Mo suddenly realized that his senses had become clearer and sharper than ever before.
The traces of the breeze flowing outside the window, the faint footsteps in the distant stairwell, the fine hairs on the spider's legs in the sewer, and even the movement of every speck of dust in the room—all these are clearly imprinted on my mind, leaving nothing to hide.
This is not vision, but a more profound perception.
Although it is only a few feet in diameter, it ignores obstacles and penetrates barriers.
"So... this is the spiritual perception that only card makers can possess."
Lin Mo had a sudden realization.
This spiritual awareness is probably what was referred to as "divine consciousness" in cultivation novels from my previous life.
Just as he was about to experience it more closely, he suddenly felt a sharp, needle-like pain between his eyebrows.
It is obvious that activating spiritual awareness is extremely taxing on mental energy, and with his current mental foundation, it is simply impossible for him to maintain it for long.
After a moment's thought, Lin Mo immediately withdrew from the state of spiritual awareness.
Just as he was about to take a break, a delicate, frail voice, tinged with sobs, came from outside the window.
"Help...help me!"
"Is anyone there...? Someone please help me!"
Who's calling for help so late at night?
Lin Mo frowned slightly and subconsciously prepared to get up and check.
Immediately, as if realizing something, an alarm bell rang in his mind.
wrong!
When he used his spiritual senses just now, he didn't seem to sense any human presence around him.
Where did this cry for help come from?
Could it be... just a hallucination?
Lin Mo pondered for a while, but ultimately decided to ignore it.
This world is not like his previous one; it is fraught with danger, and a slight misstep could cost him his life, so he has no choice but to be cautious.
However, the cries for help seemed relentless, drilling straight into his ears.
That tender, delicate voice struck his heart like a heavy hammer.
In a daze, he seemed to see an eleven or twelve-year-old girl being chased by something with a face full of despair.
"Never mind, let's go take a look."
In the end, Lin Mo could not bear the pangs of conscience, so he got out of bed and went to the window.
The curtains were drawn tightly shut, not letting in a single ray of light.
Lin Mo gritted his teeth and suddenly raised his hand to pull away.
Outside the window, the night was deep and dark, and the rain had lessened considerably compared to the evening.
The streetlights in the old alley were covered with a thin layer of gray, their dim yellow glow spreading across the cement pavement, which was completely empty and devoid of any human presence.
Not to mention a human figure, we didn't even see a single living creature.
"Nobody's here. Looks like it was just my imagination. I should go to bed earlier from now on!"
Lin Mo inexplicably breathed a sigh of relief, his hand resting on the curtain, just about to pull it back to its original position.
Suddenly, a pale, round little girl's face pressed against the glass in front of him without warning.
The distance was astonishing; we were only a few centimeters apart.
He could even see the fine hairs on the girl's face, and her large, watery eyes, wide open and brimming with tears.
Her mouth was slightly open, and a voice, exactly the same as before, instantly rang out:
"Brother, save me!"
Lin Mo jolted back as if electrocuted, his blood freezing instantly, and he stood frozen in place, forgetting even to breathe.
It's not a hallucination!
It's not a hallucination!
It really exists!
However, what gave him the creeps was that...
The little girl's face was pressed against the glass, but there wasn't a single indentation left, not even a drop of water vapor from her breath.
It seemed to float on the glass, becoming one with it.
Her tears were still streaming down her face, but the tear tracks left deep red streaks like blood.
Her mouth was pleading for help, but there was no fear in her wide, watery eyes.
Like two bottomless black holes, they stared straight at him.
What chilled Lin Mo the most was that this little girl... only had one face.
It has no neck, no body, no limbs, nothing at all; it's just like a bizarre silhouette of a human face.
The cries for help rang out once again.
However, this time, there was an inexplicable eeriness in his youthful voice.
"Brother...you saw me!"
"Then... please open the door and let me in, okay?"
Lin Mo suddenly came to his senses and instantly understood why the night owl had run away in such a panic.
It wasn't that it was reckless,
Instead, it sensed the presence of this thing before it, and the fear from the depths of its blood made it dare not linger.
As Lin Mo's thoughts raced, the little girl's mouth stretched upwards in a way completely contrary to human skeletal structure, all the way to her ears, revealing a set of fine, sharp fangs.
The voice was still that of a little girl, innocent and delicate, yet it carried an undisguised malice:
"Brother, if you don't open the door soon..."
"I'm going to come in by myself!"
