Chapter 174 Immobile god
Chapter 174 Immobile god
As the guardian swung its blade again, Silas dodged and countered with a slash of his scythe. Just as he had predicted, the guardian disappeared into thin air.
Silas didn't waste time. He turned his gaze to the side and sprinted toward the spot where he expected the guardian to reappear.
Sure enough, the guardian materialized right where Silas had anticipated.
"Gotcha," Silas said with a smirk, his confidence unshaken. He swung his scythe forward with all his strength. The blade shimmered faintly in the dim light, aimed directly at the guardian.
At the last second, the guardian blocked the strike with its massive blade, sending Silas stumbling backward a few steps.
Before Silas could fully recover, the guardian lashed out with its blade, releasing a burst of raw energy.
The energy struck Silas, throwing him backward. However, instead of landing awkwardly, Silas twisted his body in mid-air and landed gracefully on his feet, crouched low.
"He hasn't used his ability since the last attack," Silas muttered, gripping his scythe tightly. "If he charges in again and rewinds, he'll end up back where he's standing now."
The guardian glared at him, its glowing eyes filled with hostility. Without warning, it charged forward at incredible speed, its movements barely visible.
Silas braced himself as the mutant closed the distance between them. As expected, the guardian unleashed another wave of energy from its blade.
This time, Silas was ready. With a quick sidestep, he dodged the attack completely, the energy passing harmlessly by him.
When Silas turned back to the guardian, it was already in front of him, its massive blade swinging down with deadly force.
At the very last moment, Silas spun his body to the side, narrowly avoiding the strike. The blade crashed into the ground, leaving cracks in the stone floor.
Silas didn't hesitate. He swung his scythe toward the guardian's exposed right side in one fluid motion.
But just as Silas expected, the guardian disappeared again, its form flickering out of existence. Moments later, it reappeared in the exact same spot it had stood before charging forward.
Silas was already prepared.
The instant the guardian vanished, Silas activated his ability.
[Active Skill: Lightning Dash Activated]
Time seemed to slow for Silas as he moved forward with lightning speed. The guardian, now sluggish in comparison, could barely react.
With a sharp motion, Silas swung his scythe at the guardian.
SLASH!
The blade cut deep into the guardian's chest, leaving a large, gaping wound. Dark purple blood poured out, dripping onto the ground in thick streams. The guardian roared in pain, the sound echoing through the area. It rewound instantly, retreating to its previous position.
Silas wasn't done.
The moment the guardian rewound, Silas activated Lightning Dash again. He darted forward, closing the gap between them in an instant.@@@@
Once more, Silas's scythe struck the guardian.
SLASH!
The blade landed in the same spot as before, deepening the wound. Blood poured from the injury, pooling beneath the guardian as it staggered backward.
Suddenly, the guardian froze. Its movements slowed to a stop, its glowing eyes dimming.
As he drew closer, the figure's appearance became clearer. It resembled an orc, much like the one Silas had encountered in the Grade 5 realm before. But there was something unnervingly different about this one. Its entire body appeared solidified, its skin resembling petrified stone. It looked lifeless—like a corpse propped on the throne—but Silas could sense its faint, lingering vitality.
The system chimed with a notification, breaking the silence:
[Name: Danikute]
[Grade: 5]
[More Information About Danikute: Danikute is the last member of his clan. His entire clan and most mutants in this realm were nearly wiped out during a battle when another Realm's god was transported here. The previous Realm's god perished in the conflict, along with the rest of Danikute's clan. As the sole survivor, Danikute was chosen to ascend as the Realm's god.]
[Danikute was born with a debilitating sickness that rendered him immobile, leaving him unable to move his body on his own.]
Silas furrowed his brows as he read through the notification. This was the first time the system had provided him with a backstory for a mutant. It felt strange, almost as if the system wanted him to understand this creature on a deeper level.
"I see," Silas mused aloud. His eyes flicked to the throne. "That explains the guardian outside the chamber. And the title—'Broken Throne.' It wasn't just a name. It was literal."
Silas approached the Realm's god cautiously, his scythe poised for any sudden movement. But as he came to a stop before the throne, he felt no hostility from the being before him. The god's petrified form remained still, its lifeless eyes staring blankly ahead.
The realization hit him hard.
"All those mutants... they weren't attacking just to kill and feed," he thought, his expression hardening. "They were protecting their king. Fighting for something greater than themselves."
He let out a quiet sigh, his heart strangely heavy. The god before him wasn't a threat. It was a relic—a survivor left behind in a world that had moved on without it.
"Allow me to end your misery," Silas said softly, his tone devoid of malice. With a flick of his wrist, he unsummoned his scythe, the weapon dissipating into nothingness. He reached out with his right hand, placing it firmly on the creature's head.
A soft, glowing blue aura began to seep from Danikute's body, flowing into Silas like a stream of water. The energy surged through him, invigorating his soul.

The transfer completed, Silas let go. Danikute's form slumped slightly, its petrified body now devoid of any trace of life. It had become nothing more than a hollow husk.
The system chimed again:
[Congratulations! You have slain the Realm's god.]
Silas stared at the lifeless figure for a moment, a mix of emotions swirling within him. He had expected a climactic battle, a struggle for survival. But instead, the god had offered no resistance. He had won without even raising his weapon.
The system continued:
[Congratulations! You have completed the first stage of the Evolution Quest!]
[You will now be returned to your dorm room.]
Before Silas could fully process what had just occurred, his vision blurred. In an instant, the throne room vanished, replaced by the familiar confines of his dorm room.
