Chapter 631 - 631: Kids, Dinner's Ready!
Chapter 631 - 631: Kids, Dinner's Ready!
[Several Months Later]On a vast grassland in the main world stood a house that didn't look particularly special.
Although the house itself wasn't eye-catching, the surrounding facilities were fully equipped.
Behind the house was a patch of farmland and a fenced area for raising animals. The space wasn't large, but everything was neatly planned and organized, showing the owner's care.
But what best reflected the owner's attention to detail was the huge garden in front of the house, completely out of place with the house itself.
The house was small and its appearance wasn't especially elaborate, but the garden was entirely different.
The garden covered more than ten times the area of the house and was decorated with exceptional care. At the center stood a uniquely designed fountain.
Four stone-paved paths stretched outward to four major areas, a dining area, a tea-drinking area, a resting area, and a fishing area.
Although the designs of these four areas looked somewhat "old-fashioned" and didn't match current trends, the arrangement of the tables and chairs and the combinations of flowers all revealed a unique charm and taste.
The details throughout the garden showed that its owner had put a great deal of thought into it.
At this moment, the sun umbrella in the dining area was already open, and five sets of tableware had been placed on the dining table. It seemed that honored guests were arriving today.
In sharp contrast to the quiet garden, two people inside the house were busy beyond belief.
One was a man whose ID was Old Li, and the other was a woman whose ID was Luo Luo.
They moved in and out of the simple house, as if there was always endless work to do.
Standing in front of a basic stove, Luo Luo held a kitchen knife and skillfully chopped potatoes. As she chopped, she shouted instructions to Old Li, "Old Li, hurry up and harvest the carrots and beets. They'll taste better freshly picked..."
"Oh... right, and the cows, sheep, and pigs. Slaughter one of each..."
However, halfway through speaking, Luo Luo suddenly seemed to remember something. She quickly slapped her forehead and changed her words.
"No, no, no. One of each isn't enough. Slaughter a few more!"
Hearing Luo Luo's words, Old Li looked unwilling and muttered under his breath, "She's really getting into character. Taste better? What's the difference supposed to be..."
Even so, his body was honest. He immediately turned and headed toward the farmland beside the house.
Before long, Old Li arrived at the field and began harvesting all the carrots and beets.
His movements were quick and efficient. Soon all the vegetables had been harvested. Then he walked over to the area where the cows, sheep, and pigs were being raised.
He didn't go in right away. Instead, he stood outside the fence and observed carefully for quite a while.
Afterward, he took some straw and a few "old" carrots from a nearby chest and fed them to several cows, several sheep, and several pigs.
As hearts began appearing above the animals' heads, several baby animals quickly spawned on the ground.
Not long after these babies appeared, Old Li cut them down with a swift motion.
As he picked up the dropped meat, he muttered to himself, "This meat's definitely more tender than those old guys!"
After completing Luo Luo's instructions, Old Li was just about to head to the fishing area in the garden to catch a few fish when a burst of noise came from outside the garden.
———
"No way? Seriously? You actually added it?" J asked with a shocked expression as he opened the garden gate and looked at Notch.
"Why don't you try it yourself and find out? I added it not long after you met Uncle and Auntie that day..."
As he spoke, Notch greeted Old Li in the garden before continuing, "Don't get the wrong idea. It wasn't added because of you."
"A lot of players had already been saying there weren't enough ingredients and foods in the game, so I added a food mod. You can think of it as expanding the content."
Before Notch had even finished speaking, Brother Jiang quickly walked over to Old Li's side. After looking around the garden, he gave a thumbs-up and said admiringly, "Dad, you're amazing. The garden got bigger again, didn't it?"
As he spoke, Old Jiang continued looking around the garden.
"Tsk tsk tsk. These details, this taste! Incredible!"
This stream of praise made Old Li grin from ear to ear. He put an arm around Old Jiang's shoulder and was about to introduce his masterpiece piece by piece when J walked over to them.
J's face was full of helplessness. Looking at Old Li, he said reproachfully, "Dad, you stayed up all night again?"
Hearing this, Old Li was about to make excuses when J immediately cut him off.
"I checked your online hours and playtime. Since I came back last time, it's been sixteen days total, and you've pulled four all-nighters!"
Faced with J's scolding, Old Li felt embarrassed and didn't know what to say for a moment.
Seeing this, Notch quickly spoke up.
"Uncle, I'm hungry. Isn't the food ready yet?"
"Oh right, I forgot about that. You all sit down first. I'll go help your auntie!" As soon as he finished speaking, Old Li slipped away so fast that he disappeared from everyone's sight in the blink of an eye.
Watching Old Li's departing figure, J suddenly felt guilty.
He let out a long sigh and looked at Old Jiang and Notch.
"I only get to see him once every half month, and the first thing I do is criticize him... I..."
Seeing this, Notch patted J on the shoulder.
"Uncle stays up late expanding the garden because of you. You scold him because of him."
"I can understand Uncle. After knowing you'd been trapped in the Void for so long, he probably wants to make your time off more fulfilling every time you come back. That's why he keeps expanding the garden."
"And I can understand you. You want Uncle and Auntie to stay healthy."
After saying that, Notch thought for a moment before speaking again.
"How about this? I'll just put Uncle and Auntie in Creative Mode."
Hearing Notch's suggestion, Old Jiang quickly waved his hand.
"Don't. If you give them Creative Mode, this place will probably turn into the Summer Palace next time we come back!"
After speaking, Old Jiang walked over to J and patted him on the shoulder.
"Mom and Dad just want to do a little more for you. Right now, this is what they can do."
"Don't worry. They're in good health. I've taken them for annual checkups every year."
As soon as Old Jiang finished speaking, Notch rolled his eyes at him.
"When you get down to it, you're the real culprit! Every time Uncle expands something, you shower him with so much praise that he's completely carried away!"
At this point, Notch spread his hands.
"I think at least half the responsibility is yours. So what are you going to do about it?"
Old Jiang laughed awkwardly a couple of times.
"How about this? I'll immediately get them a router that can control internet usage time. Once it's night, it'll cut off their connection. That should work, right?!"
Hearing Old Jiang's suggestion, J's eyes immediately lit up.
"That's actually a pretty good idea."
Seeing this, Notch shrugged and smiled.
"Fine. I'll count that as passing. I'll let you off this time."
Just as the three of them were chatting and laughing, Luo Luo's voice rang out.
"Kids, dinner's ready!"
