Chapter 14 Teaching Martial Arts
Chapter 14 Teaching Martial Arts
As they spoke, the two arrived at the center of the training field.
In fact, the training ground was not that mysterious; it was just a simple training area. However, Gerns estimated that the area of this training ground was equivalent to half the size of a middle school in his previous life, and there were also many towers built around it.
The training ground was divided into two parts: one side was a tent area, and the other side was a wide open space enclosed by a fence. Knight Reinald was practicing his martial arts in the largest area.
Gerns and Jobs stepped forward and greeted Knight Reinald respectfully.
Reinald simply grunted in agreement, then stopped what he was doing, pointed around, and said, "From now on, you'll train here. I'll come and guide you from time to time. You can use the training equipment here as you like, but please don't damage it."
Out of the corner of his eye, Gerns glanced in the direction Knight Reinald was pointing and saw training spears and swords on a nearby equipment rack, as well as several sets of almost brand-new armor.
"I'm sure you've all guessed the purpose of my summons today. The specific appointments will be announced shortly, so I won't elaborate further. Before I begin teaching you martial arts techniques, there's one more task I need to inform you of beforehand."
"Please speak, sir."
When Gerns heard that Knight Reinald had assigned an extra mission to his squadron, although he did not show any obvious surprise on his face, he still exchanged a strange look with Joms beside him.
"This mission is related to the goblin raid yesterday evening. After discussion in the council, the Third Company was allowed to temporarily leave the main force on their way to Luggs City to eradicate the goblin nest. The map marking the mission location will be given to you after today's training. The mission requirement is to return to the main force before they arrive at Luggs City, otherwise you will be treated as deserters."
"clear!"
Without hesitation, Gerns and his companion clasped their hands together and bowed slightly.
"very good!"
Knight Reinald nodded slightly as he watched the two men accept their orders, his brows relaxing a little: "What I will teach you today is the most basic swordsmanship used by the entire army of the Duchy of Corlington: the Radiant Swordsmanship."
As a noble knight, Knight Reinald was significantly different in status from the two people before him.
Although Knight Reinald tried to restrain himself, Gerns' keen intuition, honed from his past life, constantly reminded him that Knight Reinald held a faint contempt for the two of them.
Choms, on the other hand, seemed much slower to notice. He clearly didn't sense the contempt that Knight Reinald held for the two of them, and was instead still immersed in the joy of having recently been promoted to private first class.
"The Radiant Sword Technique is the standard martial art of the Radiant Legion. It can be said that everyone from the legion commander to a lowly private knows this standard technique. However, before I instruct you two, you must promise not to teach it to anyone else!"
"yes!"
Faced with Knight Reinald's warning, Gerns and his companion clearly dared not be negligent in the slightest.
Seeing the two men's respectful demeanor, Knight Reinald lowered his guard slightly and got straight to the point: "Next, I will demonstrate to you the basic techniques and application skills of the Radiant Sword Art, as well as its derivative technique, Radiant Slash."
After saying this, Knight Reinald drew his sword and demonstrated the basic moves of the Radiant Sword Technique to the two of them one by one.
Gerns stared intently at Knight Reinald, memorizing every single movement he made.
As the standard martial art of the Radiant Legion, the Radiant Sword Technique does not have overly flashy moves, but every move of Knight Reinald is aimed at the enemy's vital points.
In addition to the formidable strength of Knight Reinald himself, even though he had restrained himself, Gerns still felt a subtle pressure from the swordsmanship he displayed.
As a martial art specifically used on the battlefield, Gerns could understand the offensive nature of each move of the Radiant Sword Technique, while also being unable to deny the oppressive force emanating from Knight Reinald's inherent strength.
After demonstrating the basic spell of the Radiant Sword Technique, Knight Reinald showed the two of them the Radiant Slash.
Knight Reinald held his sword with both hands, and after a moment of gathering his strength, a faint golden light appeared on the otherwise ordinary wooden sword.
Knight Reinald then unleashed a horizontal slash, and the golden light followed suit, slashing forward in a crescent shape. The sword energy detached from the sword, forming a pale golden crescent sword energy in the air, cleaving the training dummy ten meters away in half, and leaving a shallow cut on the wooden fence two meters behind the dummy.
It was obvious that Knight Reinald was holding back; otherwise, given his strength, he couldn't have simply cut the training dummy in half and left cut marks on the wooden fence.
"That slash just now was the Radiant Slash from our Radiant Sword Technique. Although I held back a bit, you should have noticed that I used the breathing technique that the Radiant Legion uses. The core principle of this move is to defeat the enemy in one strike. Even if you can't use the breathing technique to kill the enemy in one strike right now, this slash alone can still severely injure them."
After Knight Reinald finished his last movement and sheathed his training wooden sword at his side, he turned to look at Gerns and his companion: "In the days to come, you two will need to continuously study and refine the sword technique I just demonstrated. Before we break camp, I will check on your practice from time to time."
"yes!"
After bowing slightly to Knight Reinald and offering a fist salute, Gears and Choms watched him leave, they exchanged a glance and breathed a sigh of relief.
The two then each took a training wooden sword and spent an afternoon practicing the basic techniques of the Radiant Sword Art and the Radiant Slash in the training ground, until the red glow on the horizon broke free from the clouds and revealed its colors.
Gerns and Choms were still in the training ground, swinging their training wooden swords and repeatedly practicing the basic spells and the way to generate power for the Radiant Slash that Knight Reinald had taught them.
The basic techniques of the Radiant Sword Technique are not overly complicated. After practicing for half a day, the two quickly mastered the application of the basic techniques.
But when it came to practicing the Radiant Slash, Gerns encountered a problem.
"The way you're applying force is incorrect."
"Too slow!"
……
Amidst Knight Reinald's repeated rebukes, Gerns gradually began to grasp the basic techniques for unleashing the power of the Radiant Slash.
Perhaps because he was too focused on training, Gerns didn't pay attention to the sweat sliding down his cheeks, letting it slide down his cheeks and then drip from his chin onto the training ground.
During this time, Gerns would occasionally spar with Choms, checking each other's training progress while ensuring no casualties occurred during peacetime.

You have learned the basics of Radiant Slash (crippled version)
Finally... I learned it!
The moment a blue screen appeared on his retina, despite trying to control his emotions, Gerns could not suppress the excitement in his eyes.
Immediately, the basic moves of the Radiant Sword Technique and the Radiant Slash kept appearing in his mind. His hands, which were tightly gripping the training wooden sword, involuntarily raised the wooden sword, gathered some strength, and then unleashed a sword gust of wind that only advanced less than half a meter.
As Gerns smoothly unleashed the Radiant Slash.
"Clatter!"
A wooden sword was knocked from his hand by a slash that lacked any golden light. Only then did Jomus catch his breath and wave his hand, saying, "As expected, the young people learn faster. The younger generation is truly formidable."
"Brother Chomus is joking. Your fighting ability is not bad either. If I hadn't dodged in time, I might not have been able to beat you."
Gerns simply smiled slightly, waved his hand, and then he and Choms began to flatter each other.
In Gerns' view, practicing martial arts does not require great talent, nor does it require the optimal age for practice like breathing techniques. It only requires you to put your mind and time into figuring out the techniques for each move.
Knight Reinald, who had been waiting for some time, stepped forward: "As expected of a young man who fought his way up from the military camp, you have actually mastered the basic techniques of the Radiant Sword Art and the application of Radiant Slash in such a short time. You should rest well tonight, and from now on, practice the moves I have taught you diligently."
Having said that, Knight Reinald turned and left.
