So, with a sincere face, she said, “Because he’s your second uncle, I thought he must be at least forty years old, so I was a bit surprised. As for anything else, I didn’t notice.”
After saying this, she earnestly nodded her head to add credibility.
He Jingyao was increasingly satisfied. He knew his uncle was a lady-killer with debts of love flying all over. Lucky for him, his wife was clear-headed enough.
He couldn’t help but scoop her into his arms and bite her earlobe.
Su Zixi inhaled sharply! She was so annoyed she almost rolled her eyes! If she had known kowtowing would make him this happy, she would never have tried to please him!
“I’ve had them put an extra desk in here, from now on you’ll work with me,” He Jingyao said in a hoarse voice, laden with heavy restraint.
“No way!” Su Zixi shook her head warily, “I... I definitely need to discuss and consult with my colleagues. It’s so inconvenient to work in your office!”
He Jingyao frowned slightly, suddenly regretting why he had her take charge of that project in the first place. Why didn’t he just make her his personal secretary?
He picked up the phone, looked at the screen, his brow furrowed slightly, and then he swiped to answer.
Taking advantage of this, Su Zixi escaped from his embrace, so she didn’t hear the contents of the call, but whatever was said on the other end, He Jingyao’s face suddenly darkened, his deep black pupils fiercely contracted, clearly enraged!
Su Zixi had known him for so long, yet this was the first time she’d seen such a terrifying expression on his face! She couldn’t help but shrink her neck, feeling as though the temperature in the office had dropped several degrees.
He Jingyao sneered and after saying “I know” he hung up the phone.
That’s when Su Zixi moved in closer and asked, “What’s wrong?”
He Jingyao’s gaze fell upon her face and then softened, “Go to HR and go through the procedure first, I’ll have Adam take you.”
“Are you going out?” Su Zixi noticed as he adjusted his tie.
“Hmm,” the man responded indifferently, “I’ll be right back.”
“What happened?” Su Zixi couldn’t help but ask.
“Nothing,” He Jingyao laughed, tousling her hair, “Let’s have lunch together at noon.”
