Chapter 6 Adventurers
Chapter 6 Adventurers
"You despicable cockroach, how dare you provoke Edge Blade..."
The battlefield situation changed faster than anyone expected. Liu Bei originally thought it would be an extremely fierce battle, but before they could even officially engage the enemy, a man jumped down from the cliff and killed all the goblins occupying the right-hand high ground with a sword.
"The art of greasiness!"
"Fire Arrow!"
Two spells suddenly descended upon the goblin battle formation; the oil and flames ignited upon contact, plunging the goblins into chaos.
The goblin archers who had been occupying the high ground on the left had disappeared without a trace. On the high ground were a man and a woman, who were obviously the ones who cast the two spells.
To the left of the goblins was a narrow pass. As the goblins were thrown into chaos by the spell, a strange-looking woman in silver armor suddenly emerged from the pass. She charged into the chaotic goblins all by herself, wielding a giant sword that burned with flames, and slashed down several goblins in succession. Her only target was the goblin mage.
Seeing this, Liu Bei no longer hesitated, drew his two swords and decisively broke away from the battle formation he had formed with Eladin and the others, heading towards the goblin leader.
With the assistance of unknown reinforcements on both sides, they swept away the goblins like autumn leaves in the wind, completely annihilating them in front of the camp gate.
The final howl of the goblin leader Zakrug signaled the end of the battle.
"Ansel, bring Mara in."
"I must get a share of the spoils!" Ansel said somewhat sullenly.
His favorite thing was looting corpses, which was an essential part of the adventure. Now that Liu Bei had asked him to do something, he could only watch as the richly dressed wanderer looted the corpses and then decisively reminded Liu Bei. He remembered that Liu Bei had given the spoils of war to that group of Tifulins before!
He had no objection to giving it to those poor and miserable Tifflins, but this well-organized adventurer team of warriors, mages, priests, and rogues was not someone Liu Bei should sympathize with!
Especially the greatsword in the warrior's hand, it's clearly a magical item, and those things aren't cheap!
Ansel's little scheme was naturally unknown to Liu Bei.
"How should I address you gentlemen?" Liu Bei called out to the men who were cleaning up the battlefield. "Could you lend me a hand? These goblins are just the vanguard; there is a whole goblin army behind them."
"Are you kidding me? Do you want us to go and die with you?" the alien woman holding the burning greatsword demanded.
Forgive Liu Bei for his limited knowledge; he only thought this woman was like a toad spirit, but he would not say such rude things, as that would not be the behavior of a gentleman.
"I'm not asking you all to die with me. This is the leader of the goblin army behind us. I want you all to help me cut off their heads and hang them on the road the goblin army is bound to take!" Liu Bei said, revealing his idea.
"To intimidate those shorty bastards?" Lezeel agreed with Liu Bei's suggestion. "Your idea is quite good. I am Lezeel."
Leizer looked Liu Bei up and down for a moment and said regretfully, "It's a pity you're not a Gisyanki. Otherwise, you could be my adjutant!"
"That sneaky fellow over there is called Asdalon, and that annoying half-elf next to him is called Shadowheart..."
"Nice to meet you! I am Gael Decarios, a mage from Waterdeep, the Son of Miracles, and the darling of the Goddess of the Magic Web! Your cloak looks familiar." Gael, who was a bit too friendly, took the initiative to approach Liu Bei and examine his cloak in detail.
"I remember now!"
"Let me guess, are you a paladin from the Antios family?"
"Your cloak bears the sigil of the Antioth family, along with a barbed whip and a money pouch. But how can a family that worships the Maiden of Pain produce a paladin? A paladin who has sworn an oath of devotion!"
"Well, Mr. Gale, I am not from the Antios family you mentioned. I am Liu Bei from Dagger Beach. As for this cloak, it was a gift from Duchess Morwen of Dagger Beach." Liu Bei immediately interrupted Gale's guess.
"If Mr. Gale has any further questions, perhaps we can discuss them later?" Liu Bei pointed to the battlefield. "We have more important things to do."
"Mr. Liu Bei is absolutely right." Asdell handed Liu Bei a small purse. "This is the spoils of war that halfling gentleman mentioned earlier; you should indeed have a share. As for the other gentlemen..."
Asdallen looked to the other side; Edge Blade, who had been on the right-hand high ground, was nowhere to be seen, and the other three had also disappeared behind the camp gate. "I think those gentlemen probably wouldn't be interested in this little bit!"
After a brief conversation, Liu Bei and Asdalon cut off all the goblins' heads and placed them on the high ground to the left, which was the second highest point outside the camp wall, so that the goblins could see them clearly from a distance.
According to Liu Bei's idea, if there were enough manpower, he would definitely arrange for people to level all the earthen slopes in front of the woodland. It's just a pity that he was just a visitor.
After doing all this, they retreated into the woods.
After entering the woods, Asdallen and his three companions immediately headed deeper into the forest, clearly indicating that they had something urgent to attend to.
Liu Bei did not follow them; instead, he climbed up the camp wall along the wooden ledge on one side.
Using the telescopes on the camp wall, he searched in the direction he had come from, but strangely, the goblin army seemed to have disappeared, and it seemed that only these ten or so goblins had come after him.
"Where is your leader?" Liu Bei asked Tiflin to the side.
"Please don't disturb us, okay?"
Unexpectedly, Tiffilin did not answer Liu Bei's question; instead, they were immersed in the pain of losing their friend.
Looking at the corpse lying in a pool of blood, Liu Bei fell silent.
He observed that these people did not have calluses on their hands from holding weapons for a long time, and even the bows and arrows they carried were hunting bows. He suddenly realized that these people were just ordinary people!
What's wrong with this world?
These Tiflins don't seem to be people displaced by famine. The Yellow Turban Rebellion before the time travel was caused by a group of starving refugees being led astray by people with ulterior motives. So what was the purpose of this group?
Liu Bei couldn't understand it.
Liu Bei didn't dwell on it; if he couldn't figure it out now, he wouldn't think about it anymore. He felt that the most urgent task at hand was to inspect the current defense line.
The goblin army has disappeared, but that doesn't mean there's no danger.
On the contrary, it is precisely at times like these that cities are more easily captured, not to mention that the people responsible for guarding the forest are a group of civilians who have never experienced battle.
"Ansel, come with me!"
Liu Bei called Ansel, who had settled the horses, and the two of them immediately walked along the camp wall from east to west.
Just as they reached the westernmost observation tower, they made an unexpected discovery.
Right behind the watchtower, a goblin was lurking in the shadows!
The two exchanged a glance, and then killed the goblin hiding in the shadows on the spot.
"How did this thing get here?" Ansel asked Liu Bei.
