Chapter 51 Registering and Copying Books, Interesting Things That Happened in the Morning
"Would you like to go first?"
Dorothy stepped aside and looked at Kane as he approached.
Kane paused for a moment, then lowered his head and whispered:
"Thanks."
Kane didn't stand on ceremony and placed the two magic books he had chosen on the counter.
The apprentice sitting behind the counter glanced at Dorothy, who then gestured for him to proceed.
The other party registered Kane's mission first.
"Okay, five books: Basic Magic, Introduction to Fire Elemental Magic, Water Ball, Flame Shield, and Flame Glimmer. One book every ten days, for a total of fifty days to copy. One credit will be awarded upon completion."
After registering, Kane received five blank books and pen and ink. He picked up the spellbook, nodded to Dorothy, and left.
Dorothy then waited for the other party to confirm, through the magic in the City of Apprentices, that they had indeed passed a magic test.
"Okay, I've confirmed it. These are the magic books you can choose to copy. Pick five. Don't choose the ones with names highlighted in red; many people have already copied them."
As he spoke, the apprentice picked up a stone slab and placed it on the counter.
Dorothy tiptoed slightly and lifted the stone slab with both hands.
As Dorothy's hand touched the stone slab, rows of words appeared on it.
They were all various magic books, with the names of the people who registered them listed after the titles.
Dorothy glanced at it.
I noticed that the names of many magic books were highlighted in red.
For example, of the five books Kane just chose, only "Flame Glimmer" was not highlighted in red.
"Then I'll choose 'Flame Glimmer,' 'Wind Blade,' 'Earth Spike,' 'Vine Spell,' and this...wait!"
"And this 'Creation Bread'!"
Dorothy saw a very interesting magic.
"Okay, all these spells are on the fifth floor. Go and get them."
Dorothy couldn't wait to go up to the fifth floor, and soon she brought down all the magic books she wanted to copy.
After the apprentice helped with the registration.
Dorothy also received five blank books and pens.
She put all the books into her storage space, waved goodbye, and left the library.
The apprentice sitting behind the counter stared wide-eyed as he saw Dorothy put the book into her magic belt.
It wasn't until Dorothy left that he came to his senses and remarked with some emotion, "No wonder she became an advanced apprentice in less than three months after the start of the semester. She can even absorb magic. Tsk tsk, another genius."
……
Kane returned to his rented apartment, placed the spellbooks he had been carrying on the desk, and washed his face, his expression showing some fatigue.
"Using the Chain Fireball spell today was a bit too risky."
"But this way, my father will be able to see my grades too."
"As long as I perform well in the City of Apprentices, my mother won't be looked down upon. I, this illegitimate child, still have enough value!"
Thinking of the humiliation his mother suffered in the family, Kane sat down at his desk, picked up "Basic Magic" and began copying it down.
His thoughts were very similar to Dorothy's.
It involves copying magic books to learn more magic.
Of course, Kane didn't have high hopes; he knew very well how difficult it was to learn magic on his own.
……
The magic assessment lasted for three full days before it ended.
More than two hundred people successfully passed the assessment and became senior apprentices.
Of these two hundred-plus people, one-third came from the Elemental Magic Tower, and the rest were distributed among the other magic towers.
During the magic assessment period, there were no classes scheduled throughout the entire city of apprentices.
Dorothy spent the last three days quietly copying books.
The day after the magic exam ended.
knock knock knock.
There was a knock on the door of the Elor family's house, and Dorothy groggily opened her eyes.
"Huh? Who is it, knocking on the door so early in the morning?"
She opened the door wearing a white nightgown that covered her ankles and saw Leon standing outside.
This immediately brought Dorothy to her senses.
"Hmm! Leona? Why are you here so early?"
Leonce gently stroked the strands of hair on her shoulder, a smile playing on her lips.
"Of course I'm here to pick you up for your Elf Runecrafting class. Hurry up and change your clothes."
"..."
Dorothy never expected that this young lady would be so eager to see it.
Leonce urged her to change her clothes.
Elor rubbed her sleepy eyes as she walked out of her bedroom, and was somewhat surprised to see Leonse.
"Lily, you're here so early! Come in and sit for a while, haha~"
Yawning, Elor walked toward the kitchen.
Leonce sat down on the living room sofa with an air of familiarity.
"Dorothy will have a very busy schedule after becoming an advanced apprentice, so I'll help her make a few choices."
Leonce looked around Leonce’s living room and noticed several magical items placed in the corner.
Looking at Elor, who came out of the kitchen carrying two cups of hot black tea, she said, "You bought those expensive and useless magical items again."
Elor placed the black tea in front of Lyons, somewhat unconvinced, and said, "What do you mean by useless? Those are all materials I used to research rune enchanting techniques. How can you improve if you don't look at other people's work?"
"Okay, what you said makes a lot of sense, but why didn't you choose elven rune crafting in the first place? Elves are much better at using runes than we humans."
Elor sat down, put her legs together, and elegantly took a sip of her black tea.
"Hmph, human rune technology has improved recently!" Elor said with a hint of dissatisfaction.
"Okay, you have a point, but legendary weapons can still only be crafted by elves and dwarves."
Leonce blew on her tea, her tone indifferent.
Elor didn't want to argue with her best friend about which race's rune crafting was better.
Seeing that Elor remained silent, Lyons stopped arguing.
Currently, the most widespread runecraft in the world is practiced by three races: humans, elves, and dwarves.
Humans are the easiest to understand and learn, but they cannot create legendary weapons.
The elves and dwarves are incredibly skilled at using runes, and the legendary weapons circulating in the continent of Loran today were all crafted by them.
Even if Elor is stubborn now, she will eventually have to learn about elven rune crafting.
At that moment, Dorothy, already dressed in her magic robes, came over.
Leonce immediately smiled.
"You look cute in every outfit."
As she said this, Elor, holding her teacup, looked at Leonse with a furrowed brow and a distorted expression.
"Leons, you've changed..."
"Everyone changes," Leons shrugged, unconcerned by her friend's words.
She put down her teacup and stood up.
"Alright, Dorothy, let's go now."
Dorothy glanced at Elor. "Breakfast."
"I ate breakfast on the go. There's a great bakery nearby that serves bread with delicious jam inside."
He then tried to pull Dorothy out the door.
But then Elor reached out and grabbed Dorothy's other hand.
Elor's eye twitched.
"I want to go too."
Leons looked Elor up and down, pointing to the pink silk nightgown she was wearing and said, "Wearing this?"
"Heh, wait a moment."
After saying that, Elor pulled Dorothy from Leonse's grasp to her side and turned to walk towards her bedroom.
