Chapter 26 Necromancer
Chapter 26 Necromancer
"Brother Hunter!" Zhou Qing quickly stood up to greet him, then gestured for him to sit down. "How have you been lately?"
Hunter strode to the table and sat down, casually tossing his backpack aside: "Still the same old story. Just came out of the first level of the dungeon and went to kill another nest of goblins."
As he spoke, he took out more than a dozen goblin skulls from his bag, covered in blood, which made several adventurers at the next table subconsciously frown.
Zhou Qing stared at the goblin skull.
As expected of his nickname, Goblin Hunter, all he thinks about is killing goblins.
Zhou Qing smiled and agreed, "Okay, go hand over your mission first, then come find me. It's on me today, eat and drink as much as you want!"
"I won't stand on ceremony!" Hunter's eyes lit up at the mention of free drinks. He picked up the goblin skull and strode towards the mission handover area.
The restaurant was serving food quickly; as soon as Hunter left, a table full of steaming dishes was brought out.
Zhou Qing didn't stand on ceremony. He picked up his knife and fork and began to eat heartily. By the time Hunter returned after handing over the mission, he had already devoured half the dishes on the table.
Hunter, without any hesitation, pulled out a chair and sat opposite Zhou Qing, picked up the glass handed to him by the waiter, filled it with wheat beer, and drank it along with the food on the table.
Watching Zhou Qing devour his food like a whirlwind, Hunter took a sip of wheat beer and couldn't help but say, "Your Excellency still eats so much; your appetite is as good as ever."
With his mouth full of food, Zhou Qing waved his hand indistinctly, "No, it's just a little snack to fill my stomach. I haven't even started eating properly yet."
Hunter nearly spat out the ale he had just drunk. He stood there stunned for a full three seconds, glanced at his plate which was almost half empty, and ultimately didn't say anything more, just silently continued drinking.
Zhou Qing finished his pork chop in a few bites, wiped his mouth, and suddenly a thought flashed through his mind. Remembering his interest in learning writing, he looked up and asked, "I'm planning to learn some of the writing system of the Kingdom of Ward. Do you have any good suggestions?"
Hunter put down his wine glass and thought seriously for a moment: "You are an adventurer, and going to school for further studies would be too time-consuming. I have a suggestion: you could purchase an alchemy dictionary, which is specifically for adventurers from other countries."
"An alchemy dictionary?" Zhou Qing narrowed his eyes, a hint of curiosity in his voice.
"Yes," Henry nodded and explained, "There are bookstores in Kara City that sell these alchemical dictionaries. They can pronounce the corresponding words and have accompanying illustrations, so you can tell what they mean at a glance. Many adventurers from foreign countries have quickly mastered Wolde thanks to these, which is much faster than rote memorization."
Zhou Qing's mind raced instantly: Isn't this thing just a fantasy version of a reading pen?
It can help me with anything I don't understand; it's practically tailor-made for me!
Zhou Qing quickly pointed to the necklace on her chest and asked, "Can this necklace translate sounds?"
Hunter leaned closer to examine the necklace and shook his head. "As far as I know, it probably won't work. The translation principle of this alchemical necklace seems to be related to some kind of mental magic; it only works when communicating with living people. Simply listening to the sounds coming from the book won't help."
Zhou Qing wasn't surprised to hear this; it was pretty much what he had guessed before.
He had already learned that the necklace was a type of alchemical equipment.
Alchemy equipment and enchanted equipment are different.
Alchemy equipment requires the infusion of magic to activate and unleash its solidified magical effects.
Enchanted equipment, on the other hand, gains permanent buffs through magic, without requiring additional magic power.
The thought of such a useful alchemy book made Zhou Qing lose his appetite. He quickly finished the rest of his food and dragged Hunter towards the bookstore: "Come on, Hunter, take me to see it!"
He had originally planned to learn Wolde by recruiting mage teammates.
But now it seems that with this alchemical dictionary, forming a team to find suckers is a bit redundant.
The two walked quickly to a bookstore near the Adventurers' Guild, which Zhou Qing recognized immediately.
He had been here before, but when he heard that there were no magic scrolls for sale, he turned around and ran away. He never expected that such a good thing was hidden here.
After listening to their needs, the boss enthusiastically took out the alchemy dictionary.
Zhou Qing took it and flipped through it. Inside were many common words, each with a clear illustration next to it, such as "sword," "bread," and "fruit," which were easy to understand at a glance.
Zhou Qing tried to infuse a bit of magic into the dictionary. He pressed the word "bread," and the dictionary immediately emitted a clear Wörther pronunciation, pronounced perfectly.
"Perfect!"
With this thing, I'll be able to master Wode in no time.
After paying and putting the dictionary in his pocket, Zhou Qing couldn't help but start pondering it.
In that case, forming an adventurer party and recruiting suckers seems a bit redundant.
However… Zhou Qing then thought of magic. If he could find a mage teammate and learn some magic along the way, it wouldn’t be a bad deal.
You really need to learn magic from a living person.
Moreover, finding a teammate to explore the dungeon seems like a really good idea.
Starting from the second level, the monsters began to increase Zhou Qing's strength.
It's no longer comparable to those walking mushrooms.
Having a mage teammate to deal damage alongside you would definitely make hunting monsters much easier.
You can double your efficiency in grinding monsters for experience and collecting ingredients.
Of course, the most crucial point is... he's already spent ten silver coins to build a team, so if he doesn't recruit a teammate, wouldn't it be a waste of those ten silver coins?
That's absolutely unacceptable; Zhou Qing would never do something that would lose him money.
Having made up his mind, Zhou Qing, carrying the alchemy dictionary, grabbed Hunter and headed towards the Adventurers' Guild.
As soon as he entered, Vanessa, who was busy behind the counter, spotted him, immediately put down what she was doing, and waved to him: "Lord Zhou Qing!"
As she spoke, Vanessa turned to her friend beside her and gave her a few instructions, asking her to greet the remaining adventurers. She then picked up four parchments from the table and quickly walked towards Zhou Qing.
Seeing her posture, Zhou Qing's heart stirred, and he spoke first, asking, "What's wrong? Have you recruited anyone?"
"Yes, Lord Zhou Qing," Vanessa nodded, handing the parchment to Zhou Qing. "During your absence, four mages expressed their willingness to join your Mambo Squad."
"However, only one of them is a Bronze Adventurer; the other three are Iron Adventurers. Would you like to check their identification information first?"
"So fast?" Zhou Qing's eyes lit up, and he secretly marveled at how many mages Kara City had; even a noble mage could be recruited so quickly.
"Let me see the information about that bronze adventurer first."
If there's someone capable, he'll definitely choose the capable first; that's Zhou Qing's consistent principle. As for the useless baguette, it's not worth his time.
Vanessa hesitated slightly upon hearing this, a little embarrassed, and stammered, "Um... Lord Zhou Qing, you might need to be prepared. Most bronze-level mages already have fixed teams, and very few are willing to join new teams, so this bronze-level mage... she is a necromancer."
