Chapter 319 Water of Heva

Chapter 319 Water of Heva

Following the main road allowed Uriel to not get lost in the darkness, but the road was filled with temptations for an archaeologist like him. There were so many interesting sights, historic places and even the regular buildings held a certain cultural value for someone raised in a megacity like himself.

It got to the point where curiosity got the best of him and he couldn't help but break up into a house with the excuse of looking for supplies. Inwardly, though, he knew all he wanted was see how did the people of Rapa Nui lived.

At first, everything seemed normal, but upon closer inspection he realized something was wrong. It wasn't what he saw, but what he was able to smell what hinted him. There were no packaged meals, synthetic food and all the waste in the trash was organic which made the whole place reek like a composter.

"If the arrival never happened here, not finding synthetic food in the pantry wouldn't be so strange. But it is weird that there's not even plastic envelopes. This means that this island was cut off from the continent and stopped receiving supplies years ago.

So it is confirmed, these people were able to live here after the arrival," Uriel finally arrived at a conclusion, though the mystery was far from being solved. "but then, where are they? Why isn't the town destroyed?"

Many questions and theory started forming inside Uriel's mind and he decided to unravel them as he walked towards his destination.

The place he was looking for wasn't that eye catching and some scholars deemed it as nothing but someone carving a face into small hole in the rock that formed naturally. The place was called Heva, and it wasn't so big to be an entrance to a dungeon, but Uriel was almost certain he would find something there.

Just like in the Cenote, where water played an important role in pointing him in the right direction, Heva Face was always naturally filled with rainwater and Uriel guessed he would be able to find something there.

"Who dares drink the waters of Vai A Heva Face?" An ominous voice that sounded like many voices mixed together spoke from everywhere.

"Who's asking?" Uriel replied, unfazed by the possible threats. Now that his blessing evolved he felt even more confident he could survive pretty much anything.

"Murderer, murderer, murderer..." The voice kept repeating on a whisper, even after the same voice continued speaking. "It is us, those who were killed by Raki and Mata Nui."

"Could you please stop the background whispers? It's starting to become really annoying." Uriel replied as he cleaned his ear in a gesture of utter disrespect.

"You dare..."

"I do." Uriel glared, his eyes already glistening with flux energy, though before he was even able to activate Dash all the murmurs stopped.

"Only adults can challenge Te Pito Te Nua."

"If I remember correctly that meant something like the bellybutton of the world? Wait a second..." It was then that Uriel realized something beyond strange, something that left him in a daze. He was speaking to a stone face in the ancestral language of the glyphs, though what really bothered him was being called a child. "I am an adult!"

"Where is your tahonga then? It doesn't matter if you're old, our traditions are set on stone. Come back when you become an adult and we will teach you the secrets of our hoko, the battle dance and the tales of our ancestors."
