Chapter 1861: Chapter 1650: Two Versus One 2
The second sparring match began with an air of anticipation. Alex stood at one end of the arena, his sword balanced loosely in his hand. Flames and frost flickered intermittently along the blade, a subtle display of his mastery over the elements. Across from him, his sister Gracier and their ally Saeko prepared for battle. Their synergy was palpable, the result of countless hours spent training together.
Gracier's fiery red hair glimmered in the sunlight, and her magical bow, intricately carved with flame motifs, seemed to pulse with power. As the Goddess of Flame, her command over fire was unparalleled, and her arrows glowed with a heat that warped the air around them. Beside her, Saeko stood poised, her training katana resting against her shoulder. Her stance exuded calm confidence, and the faint gusts swirling around her hinted at her mastery of wind magic.
Alex smiled faintly, recognizing the challenge ahead. "Show me what you've got," he said, his tone light but edged with anticipation.
The moment the match started, Gracier nocked an arrow, her bow igniting in a blaze of crimson. She loosed it without hesitation, the flaming projectile streaking toward Alex with blistering speed. He sidestepped smoothly, his sword slicing through the air to deflect the arrow. The impact created a small explosion of sparks, forcing him to shield his eyes momentarily.
That was all the time Saeko needed. Using the wind to propel herself forward, she closed the distance between them in an instant, her katana flashing in a swift arc aimed at Alex's midsection. He parried, their blades colliding with a sharp clang that echoed across the arena. Saeko's strikes were relentless, each one precise and fluid, her movements like a dance guided by the currents of the wind.
Gracier, meanwhile, stayed at a distance, her bow glowing as she summoned another arrow. This one was imbued with concentrated fire magic, its tip burning white-hot. She loosed it with uncanny accuracy, aiming for the gap created as Alex and Saeko exchanged blows.
Alex noticed the incoming arrow at the last second. He spun, using the flat of his blade to deflect it upward, where it exploded in a burst of flames. The heat singed the air, but Alex remained composed, retaliating with a sweeping slash of his sword that sent a wave of ice toward Saeko.
Saeko leapt into the air, the wind carrying her higher than humanly possible. She somersaulted gracefully, landing behind Alex with her katana already mid-swing. Alex turned, blocking her strike with his sword, but the force of her wind-enhanced attack pushed him back a step.
Saeko used the cover to close in again, her katana glowing brighter than ever. She struck with lightning speed, her blade slicing through the air with deadly precision. Alex met her attacks head-on, their blades clashing in a flurry of sparks and energy.
Gracier, refusing to be outdone, channeled her full power into a single, massive arrow. The projectile blazed like a miniature sun, its heat palpable even from a distance. She loosed it with a cry, the arrow streaking toward Alex with blinding speed.
Alex turned, his sword raised high. He channeled every ounce of his magic into the blade, creating a swirling vortex of fire and ice. As the arrow neared, he swung, his attack colliding with Gracier's in an explosion of fire, ice, and light.
The shockwave from the collision knocked all three combatants backward. When the dust settled, Alex stood at the center of the arena, his sword lowered but his posture steady. Gracier and Saeko, breathing heavily, exchanged a glance before lowering their weapons. "You two fought well," Alex said, his tone filled with genuine praise. "Your coordination is nearly flawless."
Gracier grinned, wiping sweat from her brow.
"We'll get you next time, big brother."
Saeko sheathed her katana, a rare smile gracing her lips. "You're a tough opponent, Alex. But
we'll keep improving."
Alex chuckled, extending a hand to both of them. "I wouldn't expect anything less."
