Chapter 8: Chapter 7- Memories

Austin was currently lying on his bed with his hands clasped behind his bed. There was a very bored look on his face which explains how he perceived the memories of the original owner.

Austin was the eldest child in the family until he turned eight and his older brother returned.

Since birth, Austin has been a good child—loved by his parents, had several friends, and a lovely childhood friend who later became his fiancée.

Valerie and Austin's relationship was quite good till a decent period. They always remained together. In those memories, Austin could see that the silent girl actually admired Austin for whatever he did.

Belonging to a ducal house, Valerie was provided with the resources that allowed her to attend the same classes as Austin. They were inseparable.

However, at the age of seven, when every child awakens their Soul Shard, Austin awakens a very small stick-like object that cannot be regarded as a weapon in the first place.

Austin was...disheartened. Although he was consoled and told by his parents that Soul Shards grow with time, he couldn't believe that he awakened such a weak Shard.

And to rub salt in his wounds, Valerie awakened a spear that shone brightly and had an edge that not even many veteran warriors possess.

After that day, Austin began to distance himself from Valerie.

Although they both trained and participated in spars, Valerie was praised more; not only by her own parents but by Austin's as well.

His jealousy grew slowly, and to add more misfortune to his account, his elder brother returned a year later.

He was only one year old when he got stolen away by the maid who used to work for his mother. And when he returned he was a veteran warrior with a sword as his Soul Shard.

Sword—the symbol of courage and strength.

The new Prince immediately became everyone's favorite. Austin's parents also focused on him more, given they wanted to make up for him for the lost time. And Austin distanced himself from his family.

He began to hate Valerie and his elder brother slowly...seeing both of them as those who stole him from his happiness.

After entering the academy, Austin met Rhea...a girl who didn't care about his worth or status. After they clashed into a battle, she offered her hand to him without any hidden intent. She just wanted to become friends with him.

And that...moved his-

About Valerie? Her Shard went through four transformations and the girl was so strong that the Headmaster sent her through a special assessment, where she was told to fight the instructors.

Her scores were so great that she wasn't listed in the rankings, given her scores would have easily made several students disheartened and lost their motive to become number one.

"Haha~ain't my wife the strongest?"

Without the help of the system, Austin's growth would be limited. So he would progress in the field of strength and see what kind of rewards he could get.

For now, he had an important meeting with an important person. So he didn't waste time and took a quick bath before changing into his school uniform.

A white shirt with black traces down the buttons and sleeves. Black formal trousers that reached his ankles. And a pair of black shoes. Looking at himself after combing his hair, Austin couldn't help but compliment himself,

"I do look good...but still need a little muscle."

Turning around he took his bag and left his room.

"Good morning, sir." Outside his room, the same white-haired old man awaited with a friendly smile on his face.

"Morning, Sebas. I will be having breakfast in the common hall. Please bring the newspaper there."

The butler lowered his head as Austin made his way out of the dormitory.

The confidence in his voice stems from the memories he received. Now Luke and Austin were both the same person.

Leaving the dormitory he approached the main building where on the base floor was located the common hall.

And outside the common hall, he spotted her.

Standing in a corner, doing well to hide herself, the violet-haired girl continued to peek at him.

Austin grinned; so, a breakfast date, is it?
