Chapter 507: EE
Chapter 507: EE
Dawn walked out of the kitchen and saw a middle-aged man looking at the place with great scrutiny. The surprise on his face was evident. After all, he did not expect to have walked into something like this. The restaurant was filled to the brim at the moment, and when the middle-aged man pulled out his identity card in a dramatic manner. The people were confused by this sudden disruption. Dawn asked, "Good day, officer. How can I help you?"
The middle-aged man and his colleagues woke up from the daze, and the former said, "I am Shawn Dart, senior inspector in the food quality department. We received a tip that your shop violates safety and hygiene parameters. So, we would like you to cooperate with the investigation."
Everyone in the shop was surprised, and they looked at each other. The shop was really clean, and through the entire week, none of them had spotted even a dust particle on the tables. They could not understand how this place was in violation.
On the other hand, Dawn stood calmly and said, "Yes, I will cooperate with the sample collection and the pictures you need to take as proof of your investigation. However, before you do that, may I ask if you have a warrant for searching?"
Shawn Dart and his colleagues were surprised. The inspector replied calmly, "This is a random inspection. The Department of Food Safety reserves the right to conduct such searches, which do not require warrants."
Dawn nodded and said, "I understand that, but just now, you claimed to have received a complaint about me?"
Shawn was stunned; usually, when he visited restaurants, he would be feared, and the shop owners would do whatever he told them. This was the first time he had been snubbed like this, and that too by a teenager. He exchanged glances with his subordinates and wanted to devise a reason to conduct the investigation.
However, the situation reached an impasse because of Dawn’s witty attitude. The customers nodded in admiration at the guts of this young boss. Dawn would occasionally come out to greet the customers and ask them if the food was to their liking. He created a very humble opinion of himself among the customers.
His remarks and questions had thoroughly humiliated Shawn and the other officers. The people who worked in government departments were treated with respect and never suffered such humiliation.
Shawn Dart furrowed his brows and berated Dawn, "Kid, you think you can influence our operation by acting witty. I am telling you that I have the authority to investigate the situation in your shop and cancel your license if I deem it necessary. My word is supreme in this matter."
Shawn faltered under the provocation, and his petty demeanor exploded out of proportion. Dawn asked rhetorically, "Do you think you are The King?"
The inspector was so incensed that he said, "Yes, I am the King here. What can you do about it?"
Dawn smiled and said slowly, "Do you intend to rebel against the throne, Mister Dart? How dare you claim to be a King? You do not fear death, do you?"
The people gasped; it was true; they were a monarchy, and even if they were modern and free, only one sovereign could be called the king. Shawn’s words were enough to get him suspended or dismissed from his job.
The inspector was stunned and realized what happened just now. A teenager has instigated him into digging his own grave. He found this to be an even greater reason for settling Dawn and closing the shop. Shawn clenched his fist and shouted, "How dare you?! How dare you accuse me of such blasphemy? I am a loyal servant to the throne and nothing more. How dare you put your words in my mouth. I am a government servant, and the government represents the sovereign’s wishes.
You are so young, yet your thoughts are rebellious. I will bring you to the bureau where you will be imprisoned. Men! Bring him in."
Just as his people were about to move, Dawn asked, "If I am not wrong, only the people who wear a red jade ring on the middle finger of their right hand can represent the direct wish of the sovereign, and you do not have that. Neither are you escorted by a royal courtier here to enact an edict. What right do you have to say that you represent the will of the sovereign? You are just an official at the bottom of the chain of command who misuses the authority vested upon him."
The more Dawn spoke, the more people understood what was happening there. Shawn Dart was at a loss; at this moment, a mature woman walked inside the shop. This person was wearing formal attire and had a poise aura. She spoke, "Inspector, my name is Yua Kim. I am an attorney working for the partner shareholder of this shop, Mrs Liza Monroe, and I am here to represent the shop legally."
She produced her credentials and shocked the Inspector. Now that a lawyer was here, he could not do anything illegal. He returned the business card to Yua Kim and pretended to check his mobile phone before he sighed and said, "I apologize for the disruption here; it seems I have made a mistake with the shop address we were supposed to check."
Then, he quickly made his way outside the shop with his team. Dawn watched things from the side, and he sneered. He looked at the customers and said, "Guys, this meal is on the house."
The customers cheered as they began to enjoy their food. Dawn looked at Yua Kim and said, "Ma’am, please come this way."
Yua Kim was surprised by the humble expression Dawn displayed. He led her to a small garden, and the lady could not help but say, "You have decorated the place very beautifully."
Dawn replied, "Thank you. Also, I appreciate you coming over to help me fend off that guy, but I think it is still far from the end."
Yua Kim nodded and replied, "I agree with you. Shawn Dart is not the only person in Deckard Hymn’s pocket."
Dawn nodded and said, "We can only take things one at a time."
Yua Kim agreed, and then Dawn gave her a set of dishes before he went into the kitchen again. The attorney did not have much to do, so she left after eating. In the kitchen, Dawn thought about acting as he chopped the vegetables. He was holding back the urge to take matters into his own hands and deal with Deckard Hymn like any other enemy in the higher realm.
He walked the path of invincibility. He would not let any of his enemies walk away after trying to scheme against him. He was lying low to avoid karma ties because he was not strong enough to deal with the hot weapons of this world.
As he threw himself into cooking for all the people outside, he found that his rage was not venting out, but on the contrary, it was condensing into something very destructive. Dawn took a deep breath, and he chanted a few words to calm his mind.
Gradually, they closed the shop for business, and Dawn came out of the kitchen with a solemn face. He looked at Saffron and said, "You can discuss how much money we made today. I am going out for something urgent."
The people were confused, but they did not stop him. After all, while fearing the inspector, Dawn was the only one who stood up to the latter. So, they thought he was going out to find peace.
The young man went out of the shop, took out his phone, and called for Liza. He asked, "Can you give me the address of the Hymn family?"
Liza was surprised and asked hurriedly, "What do you want to do?"
Dawn replied coldly, "You do not have to know that. Just give me the address."
Liza was flustered, so she asked Dawn to calm down. She was aware of what he could do, but she was not inclined to gamble on it. She said, "Can you come over? Let us not talk about such things on the phone."
She wanted him to meet her so that she could calm her down, but Dawn was very adamant and replied, "Fine, I will get it on my own."
Liza was surprised and wanted to say something when the call was disconnected. She was stunned for a few seconds before sprung to her feet and rushed to find her husband and discuss the issue at length.
...
Dawn disconnected the phone and looked at the shop before him. He narrowed his eyes and found a person locking up the shop. The young man smiled and made his way over to the person.
The guy seemed to be a waiter in the restaurant owned by Deckard Hymn and was locking the doors. When he finished turning the keys in, he felt a hand on his shoulder and yelped in fear.
