Chapter 330: Rescue (9) - Surprised
These four pirates weren’t complete strangers. Damian had seen them at the entrance to the cavern.
Worse yet, one of them had looked right at him, almost as if he’d spotted Damian back then. That same pirate now met Damian’s gaze, his expression different from the others.
’Did he notice me at that moment?’ Damian wondered.
That’s certainly what his look seemed to suggest. However, it didn’t seem like he’d told any of the others in the group.
Among the pirates, there was one who stood out: a towering, muscular man with a bare, scar-covered torso. He carried a gigantic club slung across his back, one even larger than Damian himself.
He stepped forward, clearly the leader, eager to show he was in command.
"What kind of insect dares invade a place like this?" he said, his voice booming. "How did you get past security without being noticed?"
Damian was more concerned about Cait, who was now being used as a hostage. The muscular man noticed how Damian’s eyes were fixed on her.
Surprisingly, he tossed Cait aside. The force was enough to send her rolling across the cavern floor, scraping her knees and arms on the rough stones.
"I don’t need to use this weak woman as a meat shield to win against you," the tall man said, a grim expression forming on his face.
He didn’t see Damian as an adversary who could cause him trouble. It was funny, considering Damian was virtually stronger than that guy.
Cait was now safe. Hurt, sure, but safe. Damian aimed his palm toward her and then used his Telekinesis to pull her toward him.
"W-What!?" Cait’s face was shocked as her body flew toward Damian.
She flew behind him, where Frida, Elena, Cassia, and Nessia were.
"Protect her."
All of them nodded after hearing his command. Then, Damian stepped forward, slowly walking toward the group of pirates.
With each step, he kicked a few rocks away, dragging his feet toward them.
The tall pirate with the club was surprised to see the Telekinesis power Damian showed — he wasn’t sure what the extent of his powers was — but that wasn’t enough to scare him.
"So what? You think you can win against us just because you can move things with your mind? Nonsense."
When the man said that, Damian decided to use his Telekinesis against him as well. With his palm aimed at the pirate, Damian controlled his body using his mental powers!
The pirate flew into the sky, going upward toward the cave’s ceiling.
It was working like a wonder, but then Damian felt a resistance. The pirate fought back against it using his pure raw power.
Suddenly, the Telekinesis stopped working, and the tall man fell from the ceiling.
His body was so dense that a hole in the ground formed when he fell. It wasn’t natural.
’Does this guy weigh a ton or what?’
The other pirates had yet to say a word. Two of them wanted to rip Damian into pieces, just like the tall guy, but one of them, the same one who spotted him back then, didn’t appear to be.
It looked like the man was there against his will. Damian had yet to be sure, so he acted like all of them were his enemies.
"Scared?" the tall man had the massive club in his hands, ready to attack Damian, "you thought your trick would work? Never."
The Telekinesis was powerful. That was one of the first times that Damian actually saw someone defending against it.
A powerful body could withstand the force behind his mental powers.
With no proper weapon to use against that man, Damian decided to toss his trash sword aside and fight with his bare hands.
Maybe that wasn’t a good idea, seeing how the pirate clearly was someone who focused on close combat, using the power of his body.
But Damian wasn’t scared to go all out in a melee fight with the pirate. The energy he felt when the dragon gave him that mysterious passive was still warming him from within.
The special power of dragons. He wanted to see how that would help him. How could he somehow use this power to his advantage?
There was only one way to know more about those powers, and that was fighting against the pirates with everything he had.
So, Damian moved first, not waiting for the tall pirate. He dashed toward him, moving his legs so fast that his feet barely touched the ground before moving again.
The most impressive thing was his soundless movements. Graceful moves that looked like he was stepping into clouds, and not the hard cave rock.
In less than one second, he appeared in front of the pirate, closing his fist to hit the pirate in the face.
Seeing how Damian was straight up going for him, the pirate mocked.
"Easy to dodge," the pirate said, moving his massive club in front of his body to use it like a shield.
Despite Damian’s fast movements, the pirate still saw it coming. His reflexes were pretty good, and he quickly prepared his weapon to block.
But then Damian simply vanished. He used his spatial magic to teleport, appearing beside the pirate!
It all happened fast. The pirate had no way of dodging that. Damian’s fist hit him in the cheek.
The wind moved as Damian’s hand approached the pirate. A powerful strike, a deadly one.
However, when his fist hit the pirate’s cheek, all that happened was a slight move to the side. The pirate endured the blow without taking too much damage.
’Huh?’
Damian was quite shocked by it. His high attributes, having all of them above 200, meant he was quite the powerful person himself, so withstanding a single blow from him meant the pirate wasn’t that simple.
The pirate, with both hands grabbing the massive club, swung it horizontally, trying to hit Damian, but he jumped away, avoiding the attack.
However, even from far away, he felt the wind, his hair and clothes moving.
A scary strike. Damian didn’t want to get hit by that.
It wouldn’t be easy. The rest of the pirates prepared to move, but the tall pirate stopped them.
"Don’t," he yelled to them, "let me fight alone. Wait by the side."
Things got personal between him and Damian.
Damian’s blood boiled. It had been a while since he had someone decent to fight against, not considering that massive dragon that attacked them.
He still had plenty of weapons under his sleeve, but he didn’t use them. No, he wanted to keep them as a secret for as long as possible.
The pirate crouched and then jumped, tearing apart the ground underneath his feet.
While Damian was dashing on the battlefield, making almost no sound, the pirate was the complete opposite. A pure display of strength.
He was not even running; he was using the tremendous force in his legs to jump and reach Damian almost instantly.
’So fast!’
Damian could only move his arms, trying to block the club swing that came toward him. It was just too fast for him to dodge.
BANG
A loud sound echoed inside the cave when Damian got hit. He went flying 30 meters away, only stopping after hitting the cave’s walls.
Pain spread through his arms. He looked down only to see both of his arms bent. They were broken.
